If you have found your way here, something in your life may need care and attention. You might feel stuck in unhelpful patterns, weighed down by anxiety or low mood, or simply ready to grow in a way that feels kinder to yourself. I support people to understand what is going on and to make changes that bring relief and steadiness. For many, that includes the realities of motherhood and the pressure to do it all.
About Dr Petra
I am an HCPC-accredited Counselling Psychologist, which means my practice is governed by the highest professional and ethical standards. This ensures that you receive therapy that is safe, evidence-based, and guided by best practice.
I have many years of experience working across the NHS, third sector, and private practice, supporting people through challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and low self-worth. Over time, I have been especially drawn to supporting women and mothers who feel overwhelmed, burdened by guilt, or under constant pressure to hold everything together. My work is about creating a space where you can stop carrying it all alone.
Perhaps you find yourself stuck in self-doubt, always criticising yourself, or feeling that whatever you do is never enough. Maybe you are exhausted from the weight of responsibility, or worn down by the impact of past experiences. Therapy with me offers a safe and steady place to make sense of these struggles, to understand the patterns that keep you trapped, and to explore kinder, more sustainable ways forward. You don’t have to face this alone, relief and change are possible, one step at a time.
Each person I work with is unique, which is why I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I draw mainly on Schema Therapy, EMDR, and Compassion Focused Therapy, among other evidence-based approaches, integrating them in a way that fits your individual needs. This flexibility allows me to meet you where you are and walk alongside you as you move towards the changes you hope for.

Take a Step Towards Change
When life feels heavy, it can be hard to imagine things being different. You may have tried to manage on your own, only to find the same worries, self-doubt, or exhaustion returning again and again. Reaching out can feel like the hardest step, but it can also be the beginning of something new.
I offer a free 15-minute video call, giving you the chance to talk through what feels most difficult right now and to see whether therapy with me feels like a good fit. It’s a small, gentle step, but it might be the one that starts to shift how you feel.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to be willing to begin.
